Regulatory news and analysis across global markets

Editorial standards and corrections

Every RegMemo story is built on a primary source and checked against that source before it is published. This page explains how that works and what RegMemo does when it gets something wrong.

Sources

News briefs are based on documents published by regulators, central banks, exchanges, government bodies and international standard setters. Each brief links directly to the document it reports on. If a story also relies on another source, such as a court filing or a company statement, RegMemo names and links that source too.

RegMemo does not rewrite other publications’ reporting. RegMemo’s monitoring platform reads only from official sources, and paywalled news sites are excluded.

Monitoring and verification

RegMemo’s regulatory monitoring and reporting platform tracks the publications of more than 60 regulators and standard setters across Asia, the Americas, Europe, the Middle East & Africa and the global bodies. It picks up releases, consultations, rules, enforcement actions and speeches as they are issued.

Before a brief, analysis piece or newsletter is published, every date, amount, effective date and name of an entity or rule is matched to the passage of the primary document it comes from. Analysis follows the same rule: each claim links to the document it rests on.

Translations

Many Asian regulators publish first, or only, in their own language. When a brief relies on a translated document, RegMemo says so and links to the original-language version.

Accuracy checks

Each month RegMemo re-checks a random sample of published briefs against their sources and uses the results to improve its process.

Corrections

When RegMemo publishes an error of fact, it corrects the story and adds a note at the end saying what changed and when. RegMemo aims to fix errors within 24 hours of learning about them. Spelling and formatting fixes that leave the meaning unchanged are made without a note. A log of corrections will be kept on this page.
